Flowers for a Lost Friend

Indhira_Gandhi_Memorial_Tulip_Garden_Srinagar

poem by Yaisha Vargas

I lost a friend at noon today;

I wish the world would stop,

 ♥

And everybody could express

How much their friends they love.

 ♥

My heart is sad, my soul is wet,

My mind whirls in deep grief;

 ♥

Something has died, and though I tried,

It was not meant to be.

And with the pain, two tears come,

One happy, and one sad:

For even though I lost a friend

I honor what we had—

Our joyful times, our shared despairs

Our hopes, and happy dreams.

It makes me love, and deeply care

For friendships still with me.
